CORY MCBEE: ”HIDDEN MESSAGES”

After a career in graphic design that spanned more than 15 years, local artist Cory McBee has switched gears, shifting her focus to another passion: abstract painting. And she’s no amateur; the artist, whose brightly colored works depict Lowcountry scenes in a fresh, vibrant light, has collaborated with the likes of West Elm and local gallery and interior design studio Mitchell Hill. This month, she debuts her latest collection, ”Hidden Messages,” at Trager Contemporary. Visit the gallery on September 7 for an opening reception with McBee herself, and view the modern, coastal works through October 7. Trager Contemporary, 577 King St. Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-7pm; Sunday, noon-5pm. Free. (843)882-5464, www.tragercontemporary.com
