James Stobo’s property on the South Edisto River, now an archaeological site with artifacts on exhibit at The Charleston Museum, was an 18th-century rice plantation unearthed in superb condition. Excavations produced incredible, well-preserved colonial relics that help shed light on the land’s history and the lives of the slaves who worked there. This installment of Conversations with a Curator, led by historical archeology curator Martha Zierdan, provides attendees with a deeper look into the antebellum history of the exhibit. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Friday, 10:30-11:30am. $12; free for member. (843)722-2996, WW.charlestonmuseum.org
