Fifty years removed from his death, the world still celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the revolutionary Civil Rights activist who bravely fought against inequality and injustice in America. This year, the R & R Youth and Community Empowerment Organization holds a tribute to Dr. King, featuring a dramatic performance of Dr. George W. Stewart’s play, Trashing the King, as well as the presentation of the Dream Keepers Award, which is granted to 100 outstanding members of the tri-county community who continue to fight for equality and resist systematic oppression of minorities. Charleston Southern University, 9200 University Blvd., North Charleston. Saturday, 6:30pm. Free. www.eventbrite.com
