Brevard + Bikes + BeerFat Tire Fun: Stephanie and Noel Hunt—along with Charleston friends John Duckworth (and dog Rosie), Gloria Wilson, and Robert Prioleau—pedal along the trails at REEB Ranch, which lead to a broader trail network at DuPont State Forest.Pisgah’s Looking Glass Falls, one of 250 reasons Transylvania County is known as “Land of Waterfalls”Relief and a celebratory photo op at the top of 276, where gently rolling hills and breathtaking overlooks along Blue Ridge Parkway await. The long, uphill grade to the top of Highway 276 was not without its challenges, ......or rewards, including stunning wildflowers.Changing leaves, flowing streams, and broad smiles (à la artist John Duckworth) aplenty along the road and in the forests.Brevard + Bikes + BeerBrevard + Bikes + BeerBrevard + Bikes + Beer(Above left to right) John Duckworth, Gloria Wilson, Robert Prioleau, and Stephanie and Noel Hunt share laughs and trail talk while taking a break from exploring the REEB Ranch mountain biking wonderland.Peak leaf season is the perfect time to visit Brevard, at least according to our tail-wagging trail companion, Rosie.Brevard + Bikes + BeerFounded by Oskar Blues CEO and avid mountain biker Dale Katechis, the ranch’s barn (below) is a popular event and wedding space, and trails and a pump track draw cyclists from across the country.Cabin Fever: A dreamy log cabin, built circa 1940 and tucked away at the foot of a waterfall on the REEB Ranch property, was our adventure headquarters. The one-bedroom, one-bunk-room cabin (available to rent from spring to late fall) is on the outskirts of Brevard and right by DuPont State Forest.Good Eats: The home-cooked, locally sourced fare at Magpie’s Meat & Three (left and below middle) compensated—and then some—for any calories burned on trails. As a college town and home to a summer music festival, Brevard’s dining scene offers numerous delicious options.Brevard + Bikes + BeerWhen Oskar Blues Brewery set up shop in Brevard in 2012, the Colorado-based business (the first to put craft beer in a can) became a pivotal leader in the WNC cycling community, as well as a top draw for beer lovers.Epic cinnamon rolls at Bracken Mountain Bakery on Main Street.Lunch at The Square Root.Sampling seasonal Oskar Blues brews in its taproom were just part of our refueling strategy. The group congregates back at REEB Ranch for more R&R.
