South Carolina band Tokyo Joe, best known for recreating ’80s and ’90s pop/rock tunes, will embody the extravagance and showmanship of Sir Elton John’s most famous looks and songs at this one-night-only concert. In this installment of the Charleston Music Hall’s and Ear for Music’s Summer Tribute Series, lead singer Greg Bickley takes Elton’s place on the piano with specially designed costumes to incorporate some of Elton’s most ornamental outfits into this performance. Despite the gritty, Southern rock sound of Tokyo Joe’s original music—like in their latest album, Keep the Fame—they will imitate Elton John’s glam pop down to the feather boa.
