”From Etchings to Pastels: A New Artistic Interpretation of the Charleston Renaissance”

The Charleston Etchers’ Club was founded in 1923 by prominent local artists including Elizabeth O’Neill Verner and Alice Ravenel Huger Smith. Now, The Charleston Museum hosts an exhibit offering visitors the rare opportunity to view samples of these artists’ etchings along with newly rendered interpretations by the Pastel Society of South Carolina. After viewing the original works alongside their reinterpretations, visitors can cast their vote for the “People’s Choice Award” to be announced at the exhibit’s end. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm; Sunday, noon-5pm. $12; $10 ages 13-17; $5 ages three-12.
