Johnnie-O, the relaxed fashion offshoot of M. Dumas & Sons, will move from the Shops at Charleston Place to a King Street storefront with additional space and inventory.
M. Dumas & Sons is doubling down on King Street this fall. Johnnie-O by M. Dumas & Sons, the nearly 110-year-old menswear retailer’s casual, coastal counterpart, is moving from the Shops at Charleston Place to a new storefront directly across from the M. Dumas flagship. Almost three years after opening in Charleston, the Johnnie-O shop will gain twice the space, making room for expanded inventory and new lifestyle offerings. Designer Emily McCarthy is bringing her Savannah-based lifestyle brand known for vibrant color, original prints, and a fine-arts sensibility to the former RTW space on King Street. To celebrate the October opening, McCarthy has created a Charleston-inspired capsule collection, along with an assortment of home goods exclusive to the store. The two-story shop will carry the brand’s apparel and accessories, in a space accented with signature green, warm woods, and a side porch. McCarthy, a former graphic designer who launched her business in 2009, now distributes her designs to hundreds of retailers nationwide.
