Earlier this year, the digital creator stepped into the national spotlight as a cast member on Netflix’s Age of Attraction reality dating show. The Tennessee native has been living in Charleston since 2019 when he moved to be closer to his brother and nephews and works as the director of strategic partnerships for SafelyYou, a health-care tech platform for senior communities. But his passion is design and photography, which he showcases on his Instagram account @lostinlowcountry. Look for the launch of his sundries line with J. Stark that includes pennants and apparel alongside his photos. Here, Silberman talks date-night destinations and his favorite local finds.
Q: Have any upcoming travel plans? What are you packing?
A: I travel (nearly) constantly. If you’ve ever seen my Instagram, you’ll know I produce a lot of social content along the way, so a must-bring are my Ray-Ban Meta glasses. They make it easier to film while my hands are full of luggage and doughnuts. My Fujifilm X Half—I’ll throw that in the bag as well. It’s a smaller, travel-friendly camera that still takes a great shot. Lastly, one of my “Lostt” wallets (below) from the J. Stark collab—I need to field-test those before we go into retail.
Q: What item in your wardrobe could you not live without?
A: My daily driver accessory is a leather belt from Clayton & Crume (below). The owners Clay and Tyler were kind enough to invite me over to check out their belt bar that just launched. Getting to pick your hardware, stitching, and finish, then watch it all assembled in front of you? Amazing.
Q: What’s your perfect Charleston date night and what would you wear?
A: Right now, assuming I could actually find a date…the evening would start with a glass of wine at Roseline, a pasta dinner at OK Donna, rounded out with some live music. I’m always on the lookout for showings from Grayson Little and The Six Foot Tide. If not, dancing at The Commodore is always the perfect nightcap. Garb: I like to keep it casual but sharp—selvedge Japanese denim, maybe a button-down Oxford from Brooks Brothers with my favorite light jacket from TD McMurry (below).
Q: Tell us about your skin-care routine. Any must-have products?
A: As I get older, “skin care” is a new part of the morning lexicon for me, but I’m trying to embrace it. Any advice to help me stop aging is welcome, but I’m an Aveda guy for face and hair. For scent, right now I’m smitten with a fragrance called Cuero, which I got from The Shop at The Dewberry hotel (below).
Q: What are your favorite local stores?
A: Gosh, there are so many greats here. For vintage wear, I’m looking at Herbert’s Vintage and Coffee near Park Circle (latte and a vibey look—they got you). Wentworth for home goods and interior design. I recently bought some handmade Japanese pruning shears (below), and they’re a work of art. I have a vintage horology vice as well. Dustin, the owner at Charleston Timeworks in Mount Pleasant, keeps my collection running.
