South Carolina’s premier jazz event kicks off on Labor Day weekend, filled with performances from world-class jazz musicians such as saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, pianist Keiko Matsui, and R&B singer Jonathan Butler. Friday’s White Party in the grand ballroom of the Gaillard Center includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and musical performances. Proceeds from the weekend benefit Closing the Gap in Health Care, a nonprofit that works to decrease health-care disparities for African Americans. Gaillard Center, 95 Calhoun St. Friday-Sunday, 7pm.
