”DESIGNERS & ARTISANS: MADE IN THE LOWCOUNTRY”

This exhibit includes The Charleston's Museum’s finest collection of textiles, needlework, basketry, and quilts, dating back almost 200 years, as well as homemade and designer garments and accessories. ”Made in the Lowcountry” primarily focuses on textiles, examining the relationship between creativity and identity within artistic trends from the 18th century to the present. Visitors will enjoy seeing exquisite dresses made by African-American seamstress Madame Pauline Seba and peacock feather fans made by former slave Tobias Scott. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm; Sunday, 12-5pm. $12-$6.
