Nashville-based rhythm and blues artist Anderson East released his second studio album, Encore, in January, on which his raspy vocals are backed by rich big-band instrumentation. After gaining notoriety with his first hit record, Delilah, the singer’s momentum has only increased; East has toured with big-time artists such as Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson. Now on the road with his own new material and indie-rock opening act Mt. Joy, East bring his poetic lyrics and raw Americana sound to the Holy City stage. Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St. Friday, 8pm. $20. (843)853-2252, www.charlestonmusichall.com
