”WELCOME”

Washington, DC-based artist Mills Brown joins local artist Celeste Caldwell in a two-person exhibit with themes of belonging, domesticity, rooted history, and traditional feminine roles. Caldwell explores human relationships by creating pieces of sewing and embroidery inspired by Southern folk culture, antiques, family memorabilia, and vintage children’s illustrations. Her work blends seamlessly with Brown’s acrylic paintings and paper collages, which pay homage to her personal family history and explore what it means to be welcomed home. Redux Contemporary Art Center, 1056 King St. Monday & Wednesday, 11am-4pm; Friday, 11am-3pm. Free. (843)722-0697, www.reduxstudios.org
