“I received the most gorgeous white cattleya orchids in our flower shipment,” says Heather, who thus changed Julie’s bouquet at the last minute to showcase the blooms. “One of the things that made this wedding so special was the creative freedom that Julie allowed us.” As for the bouquet? Julie loved it.

Heather Barrie fashioned a 40-foot-long canopy of white voile hung from poles planted in boxes rife with white hydrangeas. She then dressed the table with trees dripping in crystals; hundreds of votives and orchids; and Lucite “ghost” chairs to create a thoroughly glam feel.

“Julie wanted a very chic, sleek, and modern look for her wedding,” recalls event designer Heather Barrie. “Her vision was for everything to be in a dreamy, monochromatic white.” Part of that strategy involved disguising the dining room’s existing brass chandeliers with two custom-made drum shades, which instantly transformed the space from traditional to modern.

“It all happens so fast, so make sure you live in each moment,” Julie advises future brides. After their wedding, the couple honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas before returning to Manhattan, where Julie works for a start-up hedge fund, and Neil is a commercial real estate broker.
