THE HONEY-MOONERS: As Kelly and Patrick departed the reception in a 1955 Rolls Royce for their honeymoon in St. Lucia, guests rang Irish bells, traditionally used to keep evil spirits away, maintain harmony, and remind the couple of their wedding vows.

HIGH STYLE: Designers Kristin Newman and Heather Barrie-Ahern knew that the Hibernian’s rotunda would be the perfect location for creating the drama Kelly desired. Heather suspended strands of mirrors and green dendrobium orchids and panels of antique gold bengaline. “We wanted to create a truly magical atmosphere,” she says.

BRIGHT AND BOLD: “We wanted the cake to be different, and we knew with 700 people to serve, one tall cake might be a little intrusive,” says Kelly. She called on family friend Hayden Campbell at West Ashley Bakery, choosing three cakes with bands of color and floral accents, which were placed under a canopy.

IRISH BRIDES: typically carry a special hanky on their wedding day that can be turned into a bonnet for their first-born. Putting a unique spin on this tradition, Kelly and Patrick offered their departing guests hemstitched Irish-linen handkerchiefs embroidered with a four-leaf clover.

FIRST DANCE: The couple kicked off the dancing with “You’re Just Too Good to be True.” “We wanted to dance to a song we could have fun with—one that went along with the festive theme of the wedding,” says Kelly.

GOWNING GLORY: The bride wore a Romona Keveza silk taffeta gown accompanied by a chapel-length veil. Her bouquet featured flame calla lilies, vanda orchids, and gloriosa lilies.

GRAND ENTRANCE: Guests arriving at the Hibernian Society Hall reception were welcomed with a stunning antique gold bengaline canopy and intricate flower arrangements that reflected the gate’s ironwork. “I loved watching their expressions as they entered the gates and saw what an amazing job Kristin and Heather had done,” remembers Kelly.

HIGH STYLE: Orange vanda orchids, ravel roses, gloriosa lilies, and orange pincushions wrapped in variegated ginger leaves and displayed in small glass vases complemented the larger arrangements crowning the cocktail tables and bars.

BIG APPLE: A glass cocktail tower filled with Red Apple Sunset Martinis awaited guests in the grand entryway, ensuring a warm welcome and shorter lines at the bars upstairs.

LADIES IN WAITING: Kelly’s 15 bridesmaids wore elegant sunset-gold dupioni silk gowns with double fuchsia hems. “She was drawn to saturated colors and clean lines and chose to highlight the orange in her color scheme,” says Kristin.
