We’ve been neck-deep in getting the next issue out and are a little behind in posting. Apologies! To tide you over till we get back to our normal schedule, here’s a little flashback wedding from October 2009 that we’ve held onto because we love its Nawlins’ accent. Enjoy!

Louisiana natives Lacey and Jeffrey shelled out a hefty dose of bayou bliss at their William Aiken House a few Octobers ago. Why? The Charleston transplants sought to create a day that showed off their new Lowcountry home while staying true to their Cajun roots, and—from the looks of things—they achieved their goal and then some.

After a traditional ceremony at St. Mary’s, guests dashed over to the William Aiken House where they were greeted with a snazzy outdoor tent covered in gold and deep purple satin (hello, Mardi Gras) and drenched in soft light from crystal chandeliers. Wedding designer Yoj Events coated birdcages in silver and gold, and used them to create centerpieces with orchids, roses, and feathers.

And the penultimate pizzazz? Take note of Lacey’s post-ceremony costume change. The bride switched into a short feather number by Columbia designer LaRoque just before setting foot on the dance floor. Guests joined Lacey, or kicked back with hand-rolled stogies from Coastal Cigars, and then saw the couple off in New Orleans fashion—waving white handkerchiefs and dancing on the street as the couple zipped off to their honeymoon in Thailand.

Love it!
