In our latest fashion shoot, style director Ayoka Lucas accessorized our bride with bold statement necklaces. To achieve a similar look for your ensemble, consider a piece by Charleston native Hyla Dewitt. Hyla uses gemstones from places like India and Thailand to create anything from a simple pair of gold tasseled earrings to slightly edgier pieces like the “Winston Neeba,” a necklace made with gold vermeil links and turquoise gemstones.
So, just how do you choose what to wear with your wedding day duds? Take Hyla’s advice and “Let the dress speak to you. If your dress is a statement alone,” says Hyla, “then wear a pair of fabulous studs, but if you decide to wear a simple elegant dress, definitely go with a big statement necklace.”
To try on Hyla’s looks, head to Belle Couture Bridal this week, November 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rest of year, visit Copper Penny. For more local jewelers, check out our online vendor directory here.
