Tuesday Night at Fish and NV Lounge
After an electric first night of shows, Emerging Designer Finalist announcements, and a new design competition, the Charleston Fashion Week crowd kicked up their heels at Fish and NV Lounge.
Abuzz from a spectacular first night of shows, attendees streamed out of the tents at Marion Square on a serious mission to celebrate.
In a departure from years past, Charleston Fashion Week has not one, but two official after party locations each night. Tuesday kicked off the week’s festivities at Fish and Henry’s new dance club, NV Lounge. The crowd at Fish was small but delightful, peppered with pockets of media analyzing the shows, and tables of chatting retailers, designers, and models. More than one uninvolved yet curious diner was spied gawking at the sudden influx of standout, fabulously dressed guests. Spotted were CFW Model Coach Michelle Wood, models Genevive Mashburn and Tom Yu, and Emerging Designer Chelsie Ravenell.
We got to catch up on how the shows really ran behind the scenes (smoothly in case you were wondering) and joined models in gushing over Ravenell’s darling son, who walked the runway with the designer. After a few quick sips of champagne we were off, headed across town to check out the just-opened NV Lounge above Henry’s on the Market.
The swanky lounge and club was impressively packed, playing host to everyone from fashion week wannabes to CFW veterans. Ayoka Lucas, Ashley Brook Perryman, Mychael Knight, Courtney Davis, and others danced the night away from a plush lounge area, creating the official “cool kids” zone for the evening. The lit dance floor had people really getting down (think intense dance faces) to rocking hip hop and old school beats spun by DJ Natty Heavy. Project Runway cast members Logan Neitzel and Carol Hannah proved lovely in person, mingling by the bar and graciously posing for the cameras and greeting the occasional fan.
Outside, a two level patio deck gave guests a break from the crowd and a gorgeous view of the city. Models lamented about upcoming show worries (Will I step out of my shoes? Will I be able to walk in that skirt?) while retailers such as Danielle Garrow and Erin Abagnale of House of Sage expressed excitement for their show on Wednesday. Sorry guys, no spoilers about the looks! Overheard, was Emerging Designer Finalist Larika Page exclaiming how “shocked” she was to be chosen.
At the end of the evening there were no signs of the crowd dispersing until the lights came on.
We can’t wait to see what’s in store tomorrow night!
