Lisa Birnbach's True Prep book tour landed in Charleston at J.McLaughlin last week drawing an intimate crowd of well dressed prepsters! Birnbach, author of the international best-selling The Official Preppy Handbook, delivers a new book exploring current prep brands, etiquette, and an inside to how the old world prep mentality is adjusting to the current new order of the world's current state of affairs. (Think cell phones, reality TV and the like.) Watch here for a few captured moments with the author and of course- Street Style!

One Love by Rachel Gordon

Charleston is in a season of endless runway shows which at times make it hard to keep up! Well here is one not to be missed! This Saturday, October 9, from 5 to 9pm, the Dock Side Fashion Show will be taking place at 10 Wharfside at the Charleston Martime Center. Local fashion designers, Sarah Maxwell, One Love, Clewis Reid, Eden Boheme, and Cavortress are hosting a fashion show to benefit the Charleston Water Keeper organization that is dedicated to 'measurably improving the quality of Charleston’s waterways through hands-on community involvement, scientific monitoring and legal actions'. I caught up with designer Julie Wheat to get the inside scoop and she shared "This year's event will be much larger!  Thanks to assistance from many of the fantastic entrepreneurs and creative talents here in Charleston.  What better way to celebrate our city than seaside with a fashion event benefitting Charleston Waterkeeper!  It's important to me as a designer to have the opportunity to share my work with my hometown."

Along with a parade of fashion comes an amazing Pop Up Shop featuring over 20 local jewelry, hat, handbag designers and vintage vendors such as Candyshop Vintage, Add Libb, Lori Wyatt Vintage, Taashki, Magar Hatworks to name a few! Oh yes a shopping smorgasbord! It's all about fashion for a cause and supporting our local design community. Glam, yes? See you there!

Tickets are $20 in advance at and $25 at the door.
