While I was galavanting through the streets of New York, my style intern, Julie Zigos hit the streets for Charleston's Fashion Night Out. Here she gives her re-cap of our very own official fashion celebration!

Charleston’s inaugural Fashion’s Night Out event was a blast! Coinciding with the super-event Fashion’s Night Out in New York, I had the opportunity to attend all three parties taking place Friday, September 10 on King Street, hosted by three of Charleston's leading boutiques: Cynthia Rowley, Hampden Clothing, and Billy Reid.

Andrew Petersen, Carleton Rafield

Cintra McGauley, Brittanae Casper, Tess Williams

My evening started at Cynthia Rowley, whose Fashion’s Night Out event was held from 6-8pm. Champagne was sipped and sweets enjoyed while guests mingled and browsed the latest Cynthia Rowley collections. The real attraction of this party were the complimentary makeovers offered by Trish McEvoy with International Trish McEvoy Make-up Artist Andrew Petersen and Kim Deal, from Blue Mercury. I asked Andrew, "Why Trish McEvoy at Cynthia Rowley?" He informed me that he was an artist for Trish McEvoy when Cynthia Rowley designed the outfits that they wore when Trish opened her counter at Bloomingdale's on 59th in 1998. He then had the opportunity to meet Cynthia Rowley at Charleston Fashion Week 2010, a full circle connection was made, so when he was asked to come makeover guests at the event it was a no brainer.

Among the attendees at Cynthia Rowley, I met Cintra McGauley and Brittanae Casper, V.P./Co-Owner and PR Director/Editor of TheCampusStyle.com. Their new site is a collective blog of what's what in fashion at campuses around the nation to debut later this month.

JAZ (John Zahl)

Virginia Claussen, Alyssa Botts, Grace Toland

Next, I headed over to Hampden where an intimate crowd enjoyed the sounds of JAZ who was spinning awesome 80's techno hits. (JAZ is also the silent partner behind Candy Shop Vintage.) Hampden offered hors d'oeuvres  and the chance to take advantage of a 10% discount on everything in the store! The chill party atmosphere is where I ran into Virginia Claussen, intern at Alice and Daisy and student at SCAD, and friends Alyssa Botts and Grace Toland.

Melanie Crowley, Paisley Boyd, Josh Labovitz

Michelle Braud, Jourdan Frye, Catherine Williams

Lastly, it was time to make my way down to Lower King. What a crowd turnout at Billy Reid for Charleston’s Fashion’s Night Out! Loyal customers and friends came to support Billy Reid, listen to the acoustic guitar of Ryan Bailey, and snack on a delicious spread catered by Jim 'N Nick's. The party, a celebration to welcome the new menswear collaboration between Billy Reid and Levi's, was a real southern tribute, complete with beer and bourbon!

It was truly a great night for Charleston fashion and retail! My prediction, now that Charleston has had a taste of Fashion’s Night Out, is to see participation triple in the years to come! Ok, local boutiques, start your planing now! Charleston is ready!
