Novel hits King Street and Goods of Conscience
On Monday,Library:Archives of Fashion, Balboa and Jane Pope Jewelry kicked off the month long Art and Fashion Collaborative called Novel located at 438 King Street.
I love a pop-up shop as they always stir up that exhilarating urgency to shop for temporary offerings. Exclusive is so haute! Just in time for the holiday season Lauren Lail and Jane Pope have delivered vintage finds and one-of-a-kind jewelry to downtown Charleston! Not only have they curated an amazing selection but they will also be on hand to style and help customers create unique looks from both collections.
To add to that, Lail and Pope will also host event to showcase emerging artists and local designers. You can check out the first artist collaboration this Thursday, November 19th during the opening party for Novel, featuring works from Kristen Moran and Daniel McSweeney of Margo Kaufman Gallery www.margokaufmangallery.com. The celebration beings at 6 pm and goes until 9 pm. Regular store hours will be from 10 am until 6 pm. Catering for the month’s events will be provided by Made From Scratch by Elizabeth Allen and a sampling of furniture provided by The Sitting Room will be available for purchase. Remember, it's only around for a month so get the goods while you can!
Speaking of the goods...The Goods of Conscience trunk show kicks off on Thursday, November 19th at Pearl located at 453 West Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. This effort was started in 2005 by Father Andrew O'Connor during a religious retreat in the mountains of Guatemala and features a unique mix of apparel touted by Anna Wintour, Editor-In-Chief of Vogue. "Witnessing the plight of the indigenous poor, he sought to create a fair economic model that would preserve the ancient - but disappearing - art of traditional Mayan backstrap weaving and provide a vocation and living wage to the weavers. Textile workers hand-sew each piece in the Bronx with proceeds benefiting community projects and services. The garments are made with sustainability, durability, quality and social conscience at the core." Don't miss this opportunity to shop men's and women's clothing as well as home merchandise from the Goods of Conscience collection. The trunk show will run from 10 am until 7 pm with a brief presentation by Father O'Connor on his socially-conscious clothing at 12:30 and 6:30 pm! The good news is you will still have plenty of time to skip on over to Novel when your done! I love it when a fashion plan comes together!
