Next Generation Designers & Fashion Royalty

I LOVE the kids and especially have a soft spot for the fashion kids!! Last Friday, I joined a packed house at the School of the Arts for a student produced fashion show during the grand opening of their new campus.

Senior Demetrius Washington, who recently won first place in The Art Institute of Charleston's Passion for Fashion Competition, spearheaded the SOA Fashion Club and runway show.  What an experience! FROM HIGH SCHOOL FASHION STARS TO COLLEGE DESIGNER PHENOMS...

I am still in amazement by the fashion royalty that SCAD attracts  during what proved to be style month in Savannah!  Following a two week stretch of SCAD Style, The Savannah College of Art and Design presented their Senior Fashion Show this past weekend to a sold out theatre. André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large for Vogue, presented his Lifetime Acheivement Award to the icon designer Diane von Furstenberg followed by an extraordinary runway presentation by the SCAD Fashion seniors.

Other mega designers in attendance included Zac Posen and Catherine Malandrino. America's Next Top Model's, Jay Alexander was on hand as he was, of course, the runway coach for the presentation. I had the pleasure of sharing this experience with Designer Mychael Knight who also served on SCAD's judges panel for this presentation. Needless to say I was in a total fashion coma but  pulled it together long enough to capture the highlights here just for you!
