Etsy Style Market Sparks Holiday Shopping & A Final Goodbye To Holy City Artist & Fleas

You might have thought you’d just walked through a portal straight into Santa’s workshop if you were at the Lowcountry Artist Market a couple weeks ago. This Etsy inspired event, hosted by Music Farm, featured everything local, handmade and vintage from painters to glass-makers, vintage scouters and jewelry creators.

Having completely sold out of vendor spaces, not a single craft was left un-featured. Not to mention all items were locally sourced! We learned from Tessa Taylor, creator of Birds of a Feather, that she uses feathers from local farm raised chickens for her fine earrings. While the animals themselves are “farm to table,” their feathers are cured to become “farm to fashion” accessories! We discovered so many cool stories behind so many incredible Etsy finds and the best part is you could see them all up close and personal.

Of course, I couldn’t exactly make it out of there without at least one fashion purchase. Sabrina Heise of Seek Vintage styled me up with a retro, double-clasp purse that is now my new go-to accessory. Heise says she loves a good hunt and welcomes the challenge of a customer in search of a specific, vintage item.

Overall feeling after this season’s Lowcountry Artist Market? Overwhelming pride in our local talent. This is the 5th anniversary of the event and nearly 1,100 visitors made it out to explore the craftiness. To stay connected with LAM check out their blog and if you didn’t make it out this year, be on the lookout for your next opportunity in March 2012.

I love stuff that local merchants create and sell at places like these. I am sure that things like this will get more popular as time goes on. It is a great way to get back to simpler times.

Bazaar sold out all of the vendor spaces when it was going to happen and saw over 1,100 visitors and customers buying handmade items by the locals of the area.
