Is anyone else going through Charleston Fashion Week withdrawal? Honestly, I am finally recovering (with voice intact) but the still very present buzz via photos on Facebook and continued press mentions gives me fever for more! In actuality, it is a very intense yearlong process but so well-worth it to see this stylish city get it’s due for being a fashion capital in the South.

My favorite moments include meeting Cynthia Rowley (we really clicked) and finding out that Mychael Knight (brought in by Red Bull) and his pub Satchel were my new BFFs!

Also being photographed with a surprise guest- G LOVE! This year I even had the pleasure of meeting political figures and media from all over the states! The fashion this year ranks the highest on my list!

The retail stores showed everyone why we are a premiere shopping destination with thematic shows and presentations that rocked...literally! Thank you to every participating store for making this event a success. I have enjoyed working with you on styling and creative elements for your unforgettable runway presentations!

The Bridal Couture Show was a hit and it was wonderful to have my pal Anne Chertoff, senior editor of, do a special style presentation after having traveled in a tiny room on a train while being all of nine months pregnant! Love!!!

I think everyone’s favorite moment of the day was the surprise proposal that the CFW staff helped orchestrate live on stage with a model and her handsome solider now fiance!

I will never forget the butterflies that I felt for all of the Emerging Designers during the debut of their spring collections! The talent was overwhelming. As a judge, I can not tell you how hard it was for Bob Siegel, Dana Campbell, Mary Norton, Ashley Reid, Mychael Knight, and me to decide a winner! I was so proud that we had such mind-blowing, up-and-coming designers on our runway. (Project Runway- watch out!) I remember Cynthia Rowley turning to me and saying, “I am so glad I don't have to be a judge! These designer are really amazing!” This coming from a top designer.

Thank you so much Cynthia for taking the time to be there!! Thank you Mychael for attending so many nights, acting as a celebrity guest judge, and most importantly for being my dance partner! Wink! It’s not easy to do a weeklong fashion event with 5 to 6 shows a night and then some!

Thank you Mary Norton for bringing Wayne Newton and caring so much about MUSC Children’s Hospital! Danke Schoen! Seeing Mr. Vegas under the Charleston Fashion Week Tents was a dream!

The entire Charleston Mag staff worked so hard to make this week happen and the sponsors really made it a reality. Of course I tried to thank everyone every night on stage, but being human I’m sure I left out a name or two. However, don’t let my omissions detract in anyway from how important every single person is to the success of this event. So let me name a few of the key players!

Marketing director Misty Lister, who had to work on magazines at the same time (I feel your pain) and put in countless hours even after the event was over cleaning and squaring things away. Special events coordinator Naomi Russell, who had so many roles in the production and planning of this event that a blog could not do justice! I seriously think she slept at the tents! She is a machine! Megan Casey, our runway coordinator, who worked with every store, model, and designer right down overseeing the last show! The CFW interns, Mike Grady and Erica Hitchcock, who were committed to seeing this event through and assisting Megan faithfully!

My intern (assistant) Brunson Stafford—who was most likely seen running, sweating, or holding my flip camera—and Melissa Hoefel, my other intern, who is the sweetest thing but was so worried about how I was holding up during the week (I almost fainted from exhaustion) that she almost had a breakdown trying to get me a hamburger!

Volunteers, thank you! Models (so hot) are also technically volunteers but rocked the runway nonetheless, even though I caught a few of you at the after parties knowing you had shows the next day—tsk tsk! Hair and makeup coordinator Ashley Brook Perryman who took on this volunteer job meeting with every store and designer (sometimes twice) and acting as liaison between them, Charleston Mag, and the Stella Nova Hair and Makeup Team (Stella Nova rocks!)

Between our Snyder Tents; PDA video, lighting, and audio; all of the sponsors; and all of the folks mentioned in this blog, these were the ingredients of Charleston Magazine's Charleston Fashion Week! I speak from the heart when I say from CHARLESTON and beyond, the attendees really complete this fashion formula! Thanks for packing the tents even in a downpour! I write all of this to convey that it takes a village to raise a Fashion Week!
