Woke up to the NYC 9/11 Memorial service airing on TV. Shed lots of tears before re-grouping, re-applying my makeup and getting my head into the fashion game. All weekend long, Police filled the streets, guards were stationed with guns, private memorials on street corners, flowers layed in front of fire stations, and check points for cars and subway riders were fully in place. New Yorkers complained about the inconvenience yet still appreciated this effort for safety and the reminder that we were under alert due to new terrorist threats from a valid source. Heavy!
The show must go on! New Yorkers were encouraged to go about their days as usual. So I headed to Lincoln Center for the Lela Rose show! Once again a cluster of camera flashes go off… this time for Award Winning actress Susan Sarandon who arrived with actress Mariska Hargitay. The room goes dark and is filled with the sounds of Imagine by John Lennon. Within seconds this fashion crowd of stylist, celebs and editors began signing along verse after verse. Such a beautiful experience and ode to 9/11. The show begins and once again - color blocking. There were a few fun prints and separates as well but what I think Lela Rose does best are gowns! Gorgeous fabrics, ruffles, colors and feminine details.
Today I wore a custom Chain Dress over a knit floor length sheath designed by JLINSNIDER and my street style numbers went through the roof! Stopped everywhere I turned with bloggers snapping pics and Fashion Week goers asking me about my look! Consensus: JLINSNIDER chain dress is a show stopper!
