PINK MARTINI

An aspiring politician in the early ‘90s, Thomas Lauderdale was shocked to find that the music at nearly every political function he attended was consistently “underwhelming.” Lauderdale’s mayoral dreams took a major turn when he decided to found “little orchestra” Pink Martini instead, hoping to provide a more lively soundtrack for these events. Twenty years later, Pink Martini has grown exponentially, performing in more than 20 languages in international venues from opera houses to fashion shows, taking audiences on a ”rollicking, around-the-world musical adventure” that you’ll have to hear to believe. Gaillard Center, 95 Calhoun St. Thursday, 7:30pm. $83-$23.
