Clear, perfect weather greeted those who attended Wine Under the Oaks at Boone Hall Plantation on Sunday, December 2. Guests entered party at the historic plantation by the cotton field at the back of the house, where they were greeted with a commemorative wine glass.

A large grass expanse was flanked by tents offering free wine tastings and food and local products for purchase. Among the featured vendors were Biltmore Estates Vineyards, Childress Vineyards, Oyster Bay, 82 Queen, 17 North, Locklears Lowcountry Grill, and Liberty Tap Room & Grill. The amphitheater on the far end offered a concert space, and Tyler Boone kicked off the party.

A large crowd found their way to the seating area, and 5 time Grammy Award winner Christopher Cross began to play for the audience. Guests milled about, bidding on the American Red Cross silent auction, nibbling on food from various vendors, or enjoying the wine tastings while Cross’ smooth adult contemporary sounds reverberated across the lawn.

The laid-back fete attracted partygoers of all ages, who were happy to show their support for the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need through  several avenues: disaster relief, supporting American military families, blood donation, health and safety services, and international services. The American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton in Washington, D.C.  on May 21, 1881.
