Toys for Tots Gala 2011

The 11th Annual Toys for Tots Gala took place at the base of the beautiful Ravenel Bridge on Saturday, December 3.

It’s rare that guests hit the dance floor at the beginning of a party, but those who attended the Toys for Tots Gala showed up ready to bust a move. The floor filled up quickly and early, and cover band Party Mouth kept people coming back for more with their fun grooves.

Partygoers fluctuated between the dance floor and the buffet at the back of the room, where they noshed on barbecue sandwiches and coleslaw or pasta and meatballs. Then it was off to the outdoor tent to check out the silent auction and grab a drink at the bar.

Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Ken Glasson welcomed everyone to the gala, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for our country’s Marines, and reiterated the mission and importance of Toys for Tots in our community.

Then it was back to the dance floor, but one couldn’t help keeping an eye on the Christmas tree throughout the evening. The pile of presents had turned into an absolute mountain by the end of the night, which is sure to make for some very happy children this holiday season.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a not-for-profit public charity. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in communities across the United States.
