The Sixth Annual Festival of Wreaths
The Festival of Wreaths, which benefits MUSC Children’s Hospital, returned to the Charleston Place Hotel for its sixth year of holiday cheer.
Holiday cheer abounded at the Sixth Annual Festival of Wreaths. A young, festively-dressed crowd flooded into the Charleston Place Hotel Palmetto Cafe for bubbles, snacks, and the much-awaited silent auction of designer wreaths benefiting MUSC Children’s Hospital.
Local interior designers and artists decked the walls with stunning, unique wreaths, and the bidding for each piece started at a wallet-friendly $30. This year’s pieces offered great variety and sometimes eye-brow raising creativity, making for a fun event and several bidding wars, with one partygoer literally dashing across the room for a last-second bid.
Wreaths generally fell into one of three categories: sophisticated cheer, holiday glam, or creative gaiety. J. Rhodes Interior Design’s "Seaside Holiday", Parker-Sims Interiors’ "Feather Your Nest", and Ink Architecture’s "Building Holiday Joy" presented a perfect balance of sophisticated design and fun, festive aesthetics that would look perfectly at home over any chic mantel. Ingle Interiors’ playfully named "Wreath Witherspoon" sparkled alongside "Holiday Glam" by Gaylord Design, and Filigree’s opulent, feathered creation "A Filigree Holiday" offered gorgeous, glitzy options for bold, stylish bidders. Creative gaiety was embodied by "Buy The Book", a paper wreath from Holly Spake and Olga Odeide, as well as "Spirits of the Season" a wreath of wine and martini glasses from Shawn Allen Robberson, and the rustic, minimalist creation "Wooden Wreath" took Best in Show.
“Wreath Witherspoon” won Most Creative, and “Seaside Holiday” was awarded People’s Choice, and “Buy The Book” stole the title of Most Inspired.
The fabulous, festive affair gradually drew to a close, and partygoers headed out into the Charleston evening chill, many with a colorful, fashionable wreath in hand.
Festival of Wreaths is an annual party hosted by The Shops at Charleston Place and the American Society of Interior Designers, benefiting MUSC Children’s Hospital. This year’s Festival of Wreaths was held in honor of Harper Drolet, whose artwork was chosen for last year’s Festival poster and whose presence and support at last year’s Festival of Wreaths charmed and stole the hearts of all who attended. The Hugs for Harper Foundation donated a wreath for auction and the funds raised this year were donated to MUSC pediatric oncology research in her honor.
