The annual return of Spoleto means two things: a plethora of incredible cultural and artistic experiences, and a mind-boggling number of fabulous parties. Charlestonians adore their Spoleto parties, opening receptions, cocktail fetes, pre-parties, and after-parties, and the Cast Party of The Cripple of Inishmaan was no exception.

The affair offered guests and cast members the opportunity to mingle and unwind in a comfortable, intimate setting, a relaxing respite before launching back into Charleston’s social circuit. The party was hosted at a gorgeous historic home at 32 Society Street, and those who attended made their way down a colorfully lit walk before finding themselves in the midst of a late-night garden party.

Strains of traditional Irish music floated through the crowd, which was lit with a brilliant green spotlight, adding a bit of an ethereal feel to the evening. Servers circulated with platters of tantalizing savory and sweet bites, and more than a few guests could be spotted lingering around the dessert table. An open bar helped partygoers stay cool and refreshed as they chatted about the night’s performance before the cast members arrived.

The cast members were greeted with enthusiastic applause, and they graciously posed for photos and chatted with guests until late into the summer night.

The Cripple of Inishmaan is an award-winning production from Ireland’s renowned Druid Theater Company. The lauded dark comedy is directed by Druid’s Tony Award-winning artistic director Garry Hynes, and is a featured performance in this year’s Spoleto Festival USA.
