Simply Divine Gardens Planter's Party

Simply Divine Gardens held a brunch in the garden and auction at Taco Boy on Sunday, May 23.

Spring is turning into summer in the Lowcountry, but guests at Simply Divine Gardens’ Planter’s Party and Brunch in the Garden stayed cool under umbrellas on the Taco Boy patio.

Non-profit organization Simply Divine Gardens was founded in 2008 with the mission of bringing hope, inspiration, and healing to cancer patients through beautiful, custom designed gardens. The founders of Simply Divine Gardens believe in nature’s power to benefit physical and emotional health, and the organization creates stunning, unique gardens for cancer patients at their homes.

Spirits were high as people lined up for the buffet, which featured delicious blue cornmeal pancakes with raspberry puree, fresh fruit, and fish tacos. Planter’s Punch kept everyone refreshed while perusing the silent auction, and things heated up with the beginning of the day’s main festivity, a live auction of custom decorated planters.

Live5News’ Tracey Amick emceed the auction of nine stunning planters that were hand- decorated by Chef Brett McKee, designer Candace Romeo, hat designer Leigh Magar, Live5News anchor Debi Chard, and Charleston magazine editor-in-chief Darcy Shankland among others. Bidding intensified as the day auction drew to a close, but everyone seemed happy to enjoy the party and benefit a great cause.
