Foodies and culture lovers flocked to the fifth annual Charleston Fine Arts Dealers’ Association’s Palette & Palate Stroll last Friday. The highly anticipated event paired local chefs with 12 CFADA galleries for an unforgettable evening fraught with sensory experiences.

While some Charlestonians were content to relax, mingle, and slowly make their way through the scenic French Quarter, others ambitiously flitted from gallery to gallery, trying to experience all twelve pairings before the end of the evening. “It’s more a sprint than a stroll for me!” one guest laughed.

The twelve participating galleries feature a range of work from celebrated local and internationally renown artists, and each was host to one of Charleston’s prestigious chefs. Those who attended took in the pieces while nibbling on a wide range of gourmet savory bites, such as Chef Mike Lata’s Sheep’s Milk Ricotta & Mint Gnocchi, Chef Todd Garrigan’s Lemon Marinated Scallops with Cucumber, Caviar, and Radish, and Chef Richard Barlion’s Shrimp Ceviche with Green Tomato and Pineapple. Each gallery offered complimentary wine pairings, and guests at Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art sipped on Blu’s refreshing Cucumber and Lemon Infused Gin cocktail.

Founded in 1999 by gallery owners and artists, the Charleston Fine Art Dealers’ Association is dedicated to developing Charleston’s art community and building and maintaining the city’s reputation as a fine art destination. To date, the CFADA has donated over $245,000 to the Charleston County High School Fine Arts Programs, and the Palette & Palate Stroll benefits the CFADA’s visual arts scholarship.
