Fashion Under the Stars
Fashion Under the Stars, a local runway show benefiting Darkness to Light, took place at the Rooftop at Vendue Inn on Wednesday, May 25.
Charleston fashionistas love any opportunity to see and be seen in their chicest summer finds, particularly when the stylish fete in question benefits a good cause and involves dramatic rooftop views.
Crowds of beautiful people donned stilettos and made their way to the Rooftop at Vendue Inn for cocktails, great music, and an up-close and personal show of this season’s hottest looks. Guests mingled during the extended cocktail hour before eventually taking their seats and waiting for the evening’s main attraction to begin.
The views were incredible and the weather was mild but windy, prompting several wardrobe malfunctions. “Ladies! Keep those dresses down,” emcee and Charleston magazine style editor Ayoka Lucas joked before beginning the show.
Escapada Living, Monkee’s of Daniel Island, Kenneth Beatrice, Coral Swimwear, and Cose Belle each stomped their way down the red carpet to DJ Moo Moo’s awesome beats with applause and catcalls erupting periodically throughout the show.
Flashes lit up the night as the last model posed at the end of the red carpet, and the night began to draw to a close. Many guests lingered for one last cocktail before making their way home.
Fashion Under the Stars benefited Darkness to Light, a local organization that works to end childhood sexual abuse through prevention, awareness, and education. Darkness to Light asserts that if sexual abuse can be prevented, it can be stopped, and the non-profit works to help adults recognize the signs of abuse and react responsibly. Today D2L has more than 2,500 trained Facilitators teaching their educational program in 48 states and 10 additional countries.
