Philanthropists and fashionistas gathered under the Charleston Fashion Week tents for a 3-course luncheon and fashion show to benefit MUSC on Wednesday, March 21.
Fashion has certainly ruled Charleston for this past week, and nowhere was giving so fashionable as at the Circle of Champions Luncheon on Wednesday, March 21. Partygoers put their best stiletto forward at the CFW tents in Marion Square, where a young, chic crowd enjoyed mimosas, Arnold Palmers, and Bloody Marys while catching up and perusing the stylish silent auction items.
They then sat down to a cold asparagus and buttermilk soup with grilled ramps and country ham from McCrady’s chef Sean Brock. While guests savored their first course, pint-sized supermodels took to the runway to show off the latest in children’s fashion from Southern Belles. The wee fashionistas did an excellent job on the catwalk, receiving a standing ovation from everyone present. The models for Pearl began stomping down the runway in this season’s hottest looks while servers slipped between the tables carrying plates of FIG chef Mike Lata’s cold farro salad with spring veggies and crab and a green garlic vinaigrette.
Fashionistas tucked into the dish with one eye on the runway, and as the course wrapped up the live auction began. Partygoers bid quickly and generously, with one bidder claiming the ultimate dinner at Circle of Champions Luncheon co-host Terri Henning’s downtown penthouse for no less than $6,000.
The luxurious luncheon slowly drew to a sweet close as partygoers savored Ambrose Family Farm strawberries with cassis sauce and vanilla bean from Charleston Grill chef Michelle Weaver.
The Circle of Champions Luncheon benefited the MUSC Children’s Hospital, recently named one of the best children’s hospitals in the United States. The MUSC Children's Hospital is dedicated to enhancing the health of children throughout South Carolina and to providing an environment that supports excellence in pediatric patient care, teaching, and research.
