Chart A Course For Children
The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center hosted a benefit beautiful dinner and auction at the Fleet Landing Restaurant on Thursday, February 3.
Even the drizzling rain and a wintery chill couldn’t put a damper on the Chart A Course For Children event to benefit the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center (DNLCC). Spirits were high as guests shed their coats and made their way through the throngs of minglers to bid on the extensive silent auction held on the porch.
The bidding remained competitive throughout the cocktail hour, and twinkling LED wineglasses and trays of lemon drop shots kept the party atmosphere going as the Fleet Landing servers began bringing out the salad course.
Guests took their seats to enjoy a delicious three-course meal - which included the option between two respective entree and dessert choices - while DNLCC Development Coordinator Beverly Hutchison took the mic to extend a heartfelt welcome and kick off the live auction, which included the auction of an adorable Springer Spaniel puppy called Annie.
While the tone of the affair was lively and upbeat, each dinner table held cards with the anonymous words of survivors of childhood abuse who have been helped by DNLCC, and one couldn’t help but be touched by their candor. The bidding was fast and high, and everyone was more than happy to help a wonderful cause.
The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center is a local non-profit program focused on providing safe and non-threatening "one stop shopping" for victimized children and their families. Since 1991, DNLCC has helped over 17,000 children and their families throughout the Lowcountry.
