Charleston Symphony Orchestra Designer Showcase 2012

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra celebrated their 76th with a designer showcase at a historic home on Wednesday, March 14.

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has certainly weathered some storms, and it was wonderful to see a substantial crowd of supporters turn out to the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Designer Showcase. The CSO celebrated the start of its 76th year at the historic Whilden-Hirsch House at 73 Rutledge Avenue with exquisite interior design work, cocktails, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.

While many fundraisers greet guests with cocktails, the Designer Showcase welcomed everyone with a pair of protective booties as they crossed the threshold. Partygoers slipped on the bright blue booties with a laugh before setting off to tour the home, which featured the work of Cynthia Zimmerman, Donna Horack, Kathy Evans, Lydia Gieczy, Mark Phelps, and Duval Acker. Each designer worked on a separate room, and each was more beautiful than the last.

After touring the designers’ spaces, people exited through the kitchen for a courtyard cocktail party and dining al fresco. Partygoers, symphony supports, and designers chatted and nibbled on ravioli, crab cakes, and cured vegetables while discussing upcoming CSO events.

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Designer Showcase was presented by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc., which is celebrating its 35th anniversary year, in participation with Charleston Magazine. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc strives to support the Charleston Symphony Orchestra through music education programs, audience development, and fundraising projects.
