Those suffering from post-Spoleto art withdrawl took great delight in Art For Charity’s finale on Friday. The Michael Mitchell Gallery drew a large crowd of art aficionados, all of whom were more than happy to support the evening’s cause, MUSC’s Children’s Hospital and Hollings Cancer Center.

The King Street space displayed works from more than 30 regional artists, including Ester Melton, Lee Monts, Karen Keene Day, and Marlies Williams, all of which were available for sale. Guests perused pieces while sipping glasses of wine and munching on incredible sushi from Oku. All the while strains of Michael Jackson pulsed through the gallery, lending a fresh, young feel to the event.

People wandered in and out throughout the evening, but the gallery always seemed to be comfortable crowded. Several people purchased work, and several artists were on hand to mingle with the partygoers.

Art For Charity was a wonderful way to kick off a Friday night on the town and pick up a couple new pieces all in one stop.

Art For Charity took place between May 20 and June 20, 2011 at Michael Mitchell Gallery. The event featured works in a variety of mediums from over 30 featured artists and benefited six local non-profit organizations.
