A stylishly dressed crowd of fashionistas, media mavens, and young professionals flocked to the 5th Annual “I Will Reflect” Melanoma Awareness Initiative Kick Off Party and Swimwear Show at the Spa at Charleston Place Hotel. The rooftop fete and poolside fashion show were the perfect way to simultaneously celebrate the return of summer and support and learn about melanoma prevention.

As the crowd of beautiful people milled about and mingled over drinks, servers circulated with platters of crab cakes and tomato mozzarella skewers. Partygoers snacked and enjoyed the breeze while the evening’s emcee, Charleston magazine’s Misty Lister Johnson, took the mic and welcomed everyone before speaking about melanoma awareness and preventative measures.

Soon the music picked up and the first of the models stepped forward. Local retailer Hampden Clothing presented a series of spring and summer looks, while Tommy Bahama’s show featured a number of swimwear looks for men and women. Male models are always a hit with the Charleston fashion crowd, particularly a female-dominated event. Local designer Julie Wheat presented her spring line, and her show was followed by looks from Calypso and Las Olas

This year’s poolside runway featured everything from rompers to swim trunks to a fringe-covered bikini top, and partygoers certainly got their fill of beach-ready fashions. Guests lingered about the patio long after the show, enjoying the sunset over the Charleston skyline.

The I Will Reflect Fashion Show supports the MUSC department of dermatology through donations, bracelets, silent auction and pledges. The I Will Reflect Melanoma Initiative works to promote melanoma awareness, preventative education, and awareness of safe sun practices.
