Meet the local company elevating the short-term rental experience

A glimpse into La Bella Vita, one of the downtown homes available through Stay Duvet

With visitors flooding the Lowcountry, people need a place to stay, and people with places to stay need a way to market and manage them. What if you could hire a company that would clean, stage, photograph, and list your rental property on a dozen websites—including its own—and then provide your guests with 24/7 concierge service? Well, you can. “We’re coining a new term,” says Taylor Gates, CEO and cofounder of the two-year-old Stay Duvet, “we’re a hosting service.”

Stay Duvet currently works with some 50 high-end properties—all downtown except for Mugdock Castle on Sullivan’s Island—helping each to ”host responsibly.” Sometimes that even entails a noise- monitoring device in the home to ensure visiting parties’ pitches don’t rise too high.

As for the guests? Ahead of time, they can choose from a variety of extra services—having rental baby gear or groceries delivered, for example. Once they arrive at the property, they’re met by a Stay Duvet staffer ready to answer questions, offer recommendations, and more. Happy guests, happy hosts!
