The husband and wife behind the Neve + Hawk kids clothing line that debuted at Charleston Fashion Week (CFW) 2012 talk marriage, fashion, and faith
Kris says, “This maxi skirt also works as a dress. It’s the first thing I designed for my daughter and now it’s the most popular piece in our debut neve + hawk collection.”
“I love Miessence certified organic skin, hair, and health products,” says Kris. “You can buy them from locally based site organicglow.com.”
“My sister brought me this cross from Poland,” says Kris. “We rely a lot on our faith, and I keep it in the kitchen window to remind me that I am not in control.”
“I’m a shoe whore,” Bob says. “I have a lot of old Vans that I’ll probably never throw away.”
Picture of Happiness:
“I found this photo of my mom at age three in a pure joy moment and decided, ‘We’re going to start this clothing line to find out how to live in that joy daily,” says Kris.
“We go out to surf whenever we can. I can’t wait for the day the kids can wake up and surf with me before school and work,” notes Bob.
“We got these tattoos on our one-year anniversary trip to Asheville. We arrived with intricate ring designs and the guy was like, ‘This is my first day, I can only do lines.’”
Yard Art: “We love our backyard because it is what we envisioned for life with our kids,” says Bob. “We live out there, playing, having cookouts, and camping.”
Couple Counseling: After 16 years together, Kris and Bob agree on their marriage advice: “Always talk about everything.”
On the Catwalk: “To run a business when you have kids is a huge commitment—we often work until 2 a.m. because they’re asleep—so watching our hard work be so well-received at CFW was emotional, like 12 Christmases all at once,” recalls Kris.
