LOWCOUNTRY WALK TO DEFEAT ALS

Choose from one- or three-mile walking distances at this event in James Island County Park and join in the effort to cure Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ASL). Also known as Lou Gehrig‘s disease, ALS is a neurodegenerative illness that occurs when muscles become malnourished, which affects nerve cells in the brains and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Walkers help raise funds and awareness for the local Charleston chapter of the ALS Association. James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Dr. Saturday, 9am. Free but donations strongly encouraged.
