Web Design Internship program
For those interested in the technical aspects of publishing and what goes on behind the scenes, Gulfstream offers a unique experience to learn the basics of web design development as well as entry-level information technology in a fast-paced environment. Candidates are required to have proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite web products. Experience with Quark 7.0, InDesign CS2-3, Dreamweaver and Flash is preferred. Familiarity with mac and windows environments as well as basic IT skills will be helpful. Please send inquiries here.
Marketing Internship Program

Gulfstream Communications, publisher of Charleston, Charleston Home, Charleston Weddings, and House Calls magazines, offers internships for the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter quarters in the fast-paced, exciting world of publishing. Learn what it takes to market our award-winning publications in local, regional, and national markets. Our interns will gain experience in circulation, marketing, and public relations and see how these departments work together to get our message across to potential readers. Editorial Internship Program
Explore the ins and outs of working on the editorial staff of a nationally recognized regional magazine that delves into every aspect of life in the South Carolina Lowcountry. During their time here, editorial interns gain valuable firsthand experience, insight, and understanding as they learn what is required to produce an award-winning monthly magazine that reaches tens of thousands of readers across the US. Ideal candidates will have a refined knowledge and masterful use of the English language as well as proficiency working in Word. A working knowledge of both Quark and InDesign is also desirable. GRAPHIC DESIGNERS/PRODUCTION SPECIALISTS
Description: Assist the creative vision and be part of the art team behind
Duties: Work directly with art director and design director. Assist art
director with assigning and researching photography, photo shoots, designing
departments, working with interns and being in charge of the following
production tasks:, photo retouching/cloning, color correction, converting
RAW images, clipping, scanning, placing ads, trouble shooting problems, and
postcripting.
Requirements: College degree in design. Editorial publishing experience for
a consumer magazine a plus. Knowledge of production, post-scripting, and
soft proofing online a plus. Must be proficient in QuarkXPress and CS2 for
Mac OSX. IT skills a plus. Relocation to Asheville, NC required.

Design Internship
-Gain a high level of proficiency in design applications
-Work directly with the art director and designers on layouts and ads from start to finish
-Be a part of planning and styling photo shoots for upcoming issues, then watch your ideas blossom into print
-Requires 20 hours a week for a semester
REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign are a must. Knowledge of QuarkXpress a plus and Adobe Illustration a plus. Must submit design samples.

Photography Internship
-Depending on your strengths, have upwards of 20+ images in each issue
-Go on studio, portrait, in-house, and location shoots
-Gain knowledge from other professional photographers by assisting at photo shoots
-Learn the process from camera to layout by working directly with the art director and graphic designers as a team
-Complete 10+ hours a week for a semester
REQUIREMENTS: Must have a good understanding of digital photography and lighting. Personal digital SLR equipment and experience with product shots and
personality portraits are a plus. Must
submit digital photography samples.

-Learn what it takes to operate in local, regional, and national markets
-Gain experience in circulation, marketing, and public relations
-Gain experience in the marketing process from first contact to the published product
-Complete 20+ hours a week for a semester
REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Microsoft office are a must. Design experience is a plus.
