Festival of Wreaths: Winner!
A quick report on last night's Festival of Wreaths at Charleston Place's Palmetto Cafe, to benefit MUSC Children's Hospital. I joined MUSC Children's Hospital board member Terri Henning, fashion designer Rachel Gordon, and Charleston Art publisher Olivia Poole a handful of others in judging the wreaths. Background: A dozen or more ASID interior designers signed on to each create and donate a festive wreath for the 5th annual event. Supporters convened last night at the Palmetto Cafe at Charleston Place to bid on the holiday creations while enjoying champagne and nibbles. At the end, the judges all sat down to choose the winners. At times, it got heated but we settled on some standouts. Best in Show went to the wreath you see above, designed by Bloom.
And here were a couple more of my favorites:
ORIGAMI BY INGLE INTERIORS
HOT TO TROT BY ADRIAN SIMS TRULUCK OF PARKER-SIMS INTERIORS (that's Adrian on the right, with business partner Ivie Parker)
More importantly, thanks to Charleston Place and these talented designers, they raised $4,200 through ticket sales and auction items. Fantastic! And the real highlight was the presence of one very courageous, not to mention beautiful, MUSC patient—10-year-old Harper Drolet, whose own wreath artwork graced the event invitations. Our very best to Harper and her family this holiday season, and to all those little ones battling cancer.
