I've had my eye on this garden in Riverland Terrace for a while now—it's a tropical patio garden comprised mostly of container plants. The brilliant owner, Bobby Shealy, has big long-term plans for his sizable backyard, but needed a temporary oasis in the meantime for morning coffee, afternoon cocktails, and feeding his horticultural hobby. Hence, creating "rooms" on his back patio using soaring cannas, elephant ears, banana plants, and more (shown above).

I can't wait to bring you more about this in a future issue (along with his knack for budget-friendly gardening). In the meantime, Bobby shared these photos with me, most from his backyard. "I haven't bought a greeting card in years," he says, explaining that he just shoots these close-ups and adheres the images to cardstock, treating friends and family to a personal note AND a peek at his garden.

Me, I just couldn't get over how brilliant these photographs are. Remind me why we consult color specialists and pore over paint combos when we have all the swatches and samples we need right outside our window? Enjoy!
