Single In The Holy City

When it comes to love, Charleston certainly ranks among the top romantic settings. History-filled cobblestone streets on which to hold hands and stroll? Check. A smorgasbord of hot restaurants and bars in which to woo? Double check. A well-stocked fleet of singles from which to choose? Check—if you know where to look. That’s where we come in. It has long been said that the Holy City heavily favors men with its surplus of women. But that rumor can be officially put to rest. According to a 2011 U.S. Census survey, when it comes to single males and females ages 20-plus here, the ratio is 1.2 to 1—hardly the significant advantage guys have bragged about for years. We’ve combed our fair city for the best places, events, activities, and more to meet your match—and even threw in a few tales from the F&B front lines. So read on, get out, and get flirty.
