Jam Bands

The Lowcountry, with its devil-may-care spirit of island life, has evolved into a hotbed of jam-band activity, where improvisation and the extended solo rule. For evidence, look no further than the psychedelic stylings of the following local bands who carry the genre-bending torch in between sold-out visits from Widespread Panic, Phish, and Dave Matthews Band—all in the same calendar year. Jerry Garcia would be proud (and, who knows, may be hiding out on Folly Beach).
