Q: How do I apply and what qualifications must applicants possess in order to be considered for the Charleston Fashion Week® 2012 Hair & Makeup team?
A: First, applicants must read through this FAQ, you will then be directed to complete an online application in 3 easy steps:

[NOTE: Partial information does not save to the Charleston Fashion Week® system. Only after a stylist or artist has clicked the SAVE button at the end of the application will complete submissions be made. Applicants are encouraged to save and back up information.]
Applications must be submitted by Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11 p.m. EST.
Hair stylists and makeup artists from across the Southeast are encouraged to apply.
We ask that applicants have experience working in the hair/makeup industry.
Q: How are stylists and artists selected to be a part of the CFW 2012 Hair & Makeup team?
A: The CFW Hair & Makeup director and judges will review all applications and select the top finalists to move onto the audition process, which will consist of a timed test, kit review, and interview questions. Please note, you are not guaranteed a spot on the team if selected for an audition.
Q: If selected to attend the audition, when and how will I be notified?
A: All applicants will be informed via email and/or phone the week of October 24th f they have been selected to attend the audition. The email confirmation will include: the date and location of the audition, assigned time block, kit requirements.
(Date and time are at the sole discretion of CFW and based on your casting selection on the application.)
Q: What should I plan on bringing to the audition?
A: Each stylist and artist will be expected to bring their full kit and you will be given a kit requirement list in advance.

Q: What should I plan on wearing to the audition?
A: Please wear something professional and comfortable with closed toe shoes.
Q: How can I prepare for the auditions?
A: You will be given two images that you will be asked to duplicate at the audition. PRACTICE! Also, be current on all hair and makeup trends. Finally, be sure to review previous Charleston Fashion Week® photo and video footage, along with images from Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week shows.
Q: Can I bring my own model for the audition?
A: No, Charleston Fashion Week® will provide a model for you.
Q: If I’ve selected I am interested in being an assistant, will I be expected to attend the audition?
A: No, we will schedule a separate interview time. However, you should still complete the online application.
Q: What if I am running late for the audition?
A: If you are late for your scheduled time block audition, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to audition. We recommend you plan for extra travel time to ensure an on-time arrival.
Q: When will final selections be made and the 2012 Hair & Makeup team announced?
A: If selected to be a part of the team you will be notified by email and/or phone by November 21. By mid February, the hair & makeup team will be announced on the CFW website.
Q: If selected to be a part of the CFW 2012 Hair & Makeup team, what time commitment requirements will there be?
A: Team members will be required to attend two mandatory training sessions being held on Sunday, February 26 and Monday, February 27 at Paul Mitchell School of Charleston located at 4952 Centre Point Drive, Suite 114, Charleston, SC, 29418. Exact time to be announced. In addition, there will be two mandatory team meetings. First one will take place on Monday, March 12. Exact time and location to be announced. Second meeting will take place on Monday, March 19 from 3-5 pm at the CFW tents in Marion Square.
The week of Charleston Fashion Week®, you will be required to be at the tents by 2:30 pm until after the last show is complete and the stations are cleaned. On Saturday, you will be required to be at the tents by 6:00 am for the Spring Bridal Show
Q: If selected to be a part of the CFW 2012 Hair & Makeup team, will there be any monetary compensation?
A: All team members will receive a $50 kit per diem for each day of CFW that you work. You will be paid on Saturday, March 24th at the CFW tents. If you are not present your check will be mailed.
Q: Will travel to/from Charleston and accommodations in Charleston be provided if you live out of town?
A: If you live outside the Charleston area, you will be responsible for your travel to/from Charleston plus any associated parking fees for auditions, all team trainings & meetings, and the week of CFW, plus any necessary hotel accommodations. CFW will provide a list of area hotel recommendations, along with any discount prices being offered to CFW participants/volunteers/staff. March is considered high season in Charleston, so we recommend booking your reservations well in advance.
Q: How many people attend Charleston Fashion Week®?
A: More than 7,000 people attended Charleston Fashion Week® 2011, including buyers, store owners, model scouts, and fashion industry professionals. Charleston Fashion Week® attracts local, regional, and national press attention.
Q: What press coverage does Charleston Fashion Week® typically receive?
A: Charleston Fashion Week® 2011 generated more than 19 million media impressions through the activation and support of local and national media to include reporters, bloggers, photographers, editors, and journalists. CFW 2011 press highlights include event coverage by Today.com, ELLE magazine, Post & Courier, Sophisticated Living, Fashion Wire Press, Quest magazine, New York Social Diary, etc. More than 160 credentialed media are onsite to cover and report the events of the week.
