Seeing Stars
On the heels of their television premiere, three contestants from NBC’s new Fashion Star are showing on the Charleston Fashion Week® runway
Don’t yet have your tickets for CFW’s March 22 shows? Better get them now, as they’re sure to sell out quickly. The big surprise? Three contestants from NBC’s hot new reality competition series Fashion Star are set to hit the CFW runway as Thursday night’s featured designers.
The series, featuring host and executive producer Elle Macpherson along with celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos, gives 14 unknown designers the chance to win a multi-million dollar prize to launch their collections in three of America’s largest retailers: Macy’s, H&M, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The best part? Viewers will be able to purchase the winning designs in stores the very next day.
And while we aren’t privy to the winning designers, we do know that our visiting Fashion Stars are winners already. Thursday night featured designers include CFW 2011 Emerging Designer Competition: East alum Sarah Parrott, a Marietta, Georgia, designer who wowed crowds last year with her cutouts, color blocking, and mix-and-match materials (leather with jersey, for example), earning her the People’s Choice award that night. Also in the lineup: Buenos Aires-born and Miami, Florida-based designer Luciana Scarbello, showing her sexy, form-fitting dresses, and Delray Beach, Florida, resident Nikki Poulos, an Australia native who focuses on “easy glamour” in resort and swim wear.
