The War of 1812: Three Divergent National Perspectives with John Scott Cowan

Date & Time

Friday, March 14, 2014 -
9:30am to 12:00pm

Location

Charleston Library Society

Event Details

John Scott Cowan, Honorary Colonel of the Princess of Wales' Own Regiment and former principal of the Royal Military College of Canada, leads a lecture and discussion exploring the conflicting narratives about the War of 1812. Like witnesses seeing a traffic accident from three different vantage points, sources from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom all see the events differently, but the unique stories Cowan shares will help to reconcile them after more than 200 years. Charleston Library Society, 164 King St. Friday, 9:30am-noon. $15; $10 member.
