Event Details

While the concept of snow-laden marshes might seem far-fetched today, back in 1899, a blizzard of unforeseen proportions took the Lowcountry by storm. During this “Great Arctic Outbreak,” amateur photographers Robert Achurch, Franklin Frost Sams, Leila Waring, and Sabrina Elliot Wells braved the cold to capture this rare meterological event. Head over to The Charleston Museum to see their photos on display in this special exhibit. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm; Sunday, noon-5pm. $12; $10 ages 13-17; $5 ages three-12.
