Composed bu Franz Joseph Haydn in 1773 for Empress Maria Theresa's visit to Estheraza palace, this opera tells how the gods Jupite and Mercury reward Philemon and Baucis for their generosity. When you see it performed by the Colla Marionette Company accompanied by an orchestra and soloists and sung in German with English supertitles, you'll understand why it was worthy of a royal visit.
